Ontario Early Years Centre and Children & Family Centres

The staff at the Ontario Early Years Centre have worked very hard to create an environment that helps develop your child’s emotional regulation through sensory play.  The Centres offer a chance for big body movement in a gym area where there are many toys and activities for children to play with, as they wish. The backyard has been set up in a way that the environment plays an important role to engage children in different activities. Some Centres have playgrounds that the children can play on, a fairy garden, a water wall, a music wall, and a mud station. These features allow for children to experience a wide variety of sensory stimulation which helps them develop their senses as well as use creativity and imagination to play with the toys as they wish. In all centers, children have the opportunity for big body movement, dramatic play, music & movement, science discovery & art exploration, learning through literacy (math, reading, and writing), and use of fine motor skills (puzzles, scissors, cut & paste, and markers). As well, when playing at these facilities, children learn how to interact with other children. This interaction teaches them sharing and turn-taking. For some children, this can be a challenge and it may upset them that they have to wait their turn. This experience can help them learn how to react in social situations and regulate their emotions.

The Early Years Centre in North Bay and Area has a Facebook page where you can access information about thec centre. Below is the link to it.
