Mumps
Treatment
There is no current treatment for mumps, which is very concerning because it can cause long term health problems. At this time only symptom management is available.
Signs + Symptoms
Common symptoms include:

Fever

Headache
-
Loss of appetite

Muscle aches
-
Swollen and tender salivary glands

Fatigue
Some people may not even know they have the disease because their symptoms are so mild.

2 vaccines between 12-15 months and 4-6 years.
Complications
Mumps can cause complications, which occur more often in adults.
This includes:

inflammation of the testicles, which can lead to sterility

inflammation of the brain
-
Meningitis
-
inflammation of the ovaries and/or breast tissue
-
deafness
Transmission

Mumps is a very contagious disease that can be spread by coughing, sneezing and talking or indirectly by touching household items that have been used by someone infected with the mumps virus.
